What Sucks About Counting Macros

I am a fan of counting macros. This calorie deficit system uses the science of the macronutrients our body needs to help us lose fat without losing muscle mass. It makes sense and it’s working for me! But I wanted to be fair to anyone who’s looking at tracking this way, and tell you about what sucks about counting macros. Look for the YouTube video version of this content at the end of the article, too!

NuvaRing Birth Control and Endometriosis: My Honest Experience

The NuvaRing is a birth control method which is inserted vaginally, and lasts for 30 days. I used it when I was younger, and am now using it to combat my severe endometriosis. I’m writing this in hopes that it will help women who are in a similar situation. I have been on a regimen of NuvaRing birth control to help minimize my severe endometriosis. This is my review not only of the NuvaRing itself, but how it’s helped my endometriosis.

Honesty is such a beautiful trait to have, and it’s one of the most important values that I want to instill in my children. I am loving Weight Watchers! As a busy mom who’s on a budget (money wise and time wise), it’s really the only weight loss plan that makes any kind of realistic sense. Though don’t let me call it a diet – it’s a lifestyle! The beauty of WW is that it’s sustainable, even if you’re cooking for little kids and a healthy husband. But if I’m going to make this plan work for life, I gotta have some go-to snacks that satisfy me, and are enjoyable too. Viola! Here is the list of my favorite Weight Watchers snacks: Smart Points-friendly, easy to make, and friggin’ good. Each suggestion includes serving size and Smart Points value, and as always I have tons of photos! Continue reading

Thank Goodness for Grandma!

Today is my mom’s birthday! Hooray Mommee! She is an incredible person, the perfect combination of selflessness and sarcasm. And it’s pretty damn amazing to see your mom turn into a grandma. I wanted to make a short tribute to how awesome she is and show you why we say “Thank goodness for Grandma!”

How to Protect My Child From the World: Part One in a Series of Letters Between Mom Friends

My dear readers, something has been hurting my heart for some time. Those of you who have children in school can probably relate to my situation to some extent. How can I protect my child from the world (and its assholes)? I wrote a letter to my brilliant friend Marie, who’s also a mom to a boy and a girl, to tell her about what happened and to get her thoughts. This is the first letter in a series between mom friends about how to protect my child from the world.

What’s In My Cloth Diaper Stash?

Here at RSM, I love teaching people about cloth diapers: I know they can seem intimidating and confusing, but really they’re a fantastic and frugal way to diaper your little one! But like a lot of things, it’s helpful to see what a real live mom uses in her own home. So here I’ll explain and show you what’s in my cloth diaper stash! (Cue the cheesy game show host calling out “Whaaaaat’s in her diaper staaaaaaash?”) Continue reading
