Lumpy Cubes: The Concept
Lumpy Cubes is a game where you use your own set of four multi-sided cubes to recreate a specific pattern. You look at the card’s arrangement of four faces, and when the timer starts you have to use your cubes to make that same arrangement. Whoever does it first wins the round, and earns the card. You have to work fast and not knock over your cubes! The winner is the one who earns the most cards (by winning the most rounds). This game can also be practiced alone.
The game of quick, quirky, cube stacks! Lumpy Cubes is a quick-play stacking game designed to improve your memory, reaction time, and motor skills. This game is fun for all ages, especially when looking for friendly competition! The unique feature of this game is that each patterned challenge card has only one way to be correctly stacked. If you find it and stack it first you win! – RoosterFin
Lumpy Cubes: What We Love
This is a very clever, easily transportable game. The pieces are lightweight and bright which makes it easy for your kids to play with confidence. (They’re also easy to clean.) The cards are large and sturdy, and easy to read.
I love that the game is a quick-play (I’m looking at you, Monopoly) and it’s simple to set up and clean up. If the kids can play it, they can put it back in the box!
The idea of having two faces on each cube, so that the cubes can be used in different ways, is also a creative idea. (But remember that each card only has one possible configuration!)
I love that it’s designed so that one child can practice or play on their own without feeling like they’re not “really” playing the game. And my kids honestly like playing with the cubes in ways other than the intended way, like stacking as many as possible or making patterns with the faces. So they’re learning skills even they’re not playing the “right” way!
Lumpy Cubes: What Could Be Improved
I don’t really have a lot of suggestions here! I do wish that some of the faces looked a bit more female so that I could feel like there was a balance of male and female. It would also be great if the cards were laminated so that they’re wrinkle and stain proof.
For bigger kids, the cubes could be heavier as well, and you have to play on a smooth hard surface like a table. But as you can see, none of these issues are really serious!
