We’re Not Having Any More Children – Coping with the Finality

We have officially made the decision to not have any more biological children. I need to accept the reality and finality of not having any more kids, and try to look on the bright side. As is my way, I’m expressing my feelings through my raw writing. I hope that this finds someone someday and gives them closure, and I hope that it helps me too. Because I still haven’t come to terms fully with the fact that we will never have more children.

Review: Bentgo Kids Lunch Box System

Do you pack a lunch for your kids? This is a task which drains years off of my life, and yet it’s something I gotta do five times a week. With our oldest child heading to kindergarten this year, I asked some veteran mom friends for a lunch box recommendation. Without a doubt, the masses shouted “Bentgo!” So of course we had to try one out. Here’s my honest review of the Bentgo Kids Lunch Box System, complete with photos and a video demo at the end. Self Care for Moms in 2018

Self care. It’s this term that has become dutiful and hush-hush and exclusive all at the same time. We’re told to practice it regularly, that we deserve it, and that it should be this major production. But I call bullshit. Look, self care for moms in 2018 doesn’t have to be a big fucking deal. It can be practical and routine and boring and cheap and fantastic. It’s just gotta get done. Here’s how. Continue reading

Why You Should Take Your Kids to the Zoo

I thought it appropriate to publish an article about some family fun as we begin our spring break. One of our favorite places to go to together is the San Antonio Zoo! Our zoo here is fantastic! It is just big enough to feel thorough without getting too draining, and they have done an incredible job in regards to kid-friendly activities and attractions. We love our zoo! But I know a lot of people feel that attending a zoo is feeding the caged-animal-cruelty-and-abuse monster. I did some research and took a hell of a lot of photos, and I am here to say: zoos are wonderful, and I will continue to take my kids to the zoo on a regular basis. My support equals education and protection for wildlife, and an immeasurable experience for my children. Here’s why you should take your kids to the zoo. Continue reading

How Much Does It Cost to Have Backyard Chickens?

I’m quickly becoming a huge advocate for backyard chickens. They’ve been amazing! But I think the biggest misconception around getting chickens is how much money it takes to get started, and then how expensive they are to take care of.  So I thought I’d dispel the misinformation: how much does it cost to have backyard chickens? Really?

Check out my videos as well so you can see the products in action!

The Most Important Thing You Can Do for My Kids and I

My circle of friends has changed a lot since having kids. Some people have withstood the test of time, and the challenges that come from a friend having a baby. Other people have drifted away. I was thinking about my “past life” recently and had a realization: those people who I keep in touch with, what did they have in common? What did they mean to me and to my kids? Read on for my epiphany, the most important thing you can do for my kids (and for me). Continue reading
